Immediately following a one-month training course for TV producers and
directors in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, JESCOMEAO Secretary Jerry
Martinson and Special Assistant Mr. Augustine Loorthusamy traveled to
Phnom Penh and Battambang, Cambodia to prepare a series of communication
training courses for the Cambodian Church in 2003. The communications unit
of the Jesuit Cambodia Service under Sr. Denise Coughlan is actively
engaged in video production for social and religious education. The Head
of the Major Seminary in Phnom Penh, Fr. Omer Giraldo, is planning
communication projects and has had two young Khmer laymen trained at
Niscort in Delhi. Mgr. Kike Figaredo promotes the training of young
people in classical Cambodian dance as a means of communicating Khmer
cultural heritage to the new generation.
Mr. Loorthusamy participated in the Board Meeting of SIGNIS in Brussels
and met with the directors of several international communications
organizations including the World Association of Christian Communicators
in London.
Kuangchi Program Service’s 53-minute documentary on migrant workers, Asian
Exile, was
the centerpiece of a videotaped 90-minute special program for Taiwan’s
Public Television Channel to be broadcast throughout the island on May 3.
The documentary is followed by a panel discussion that includes the Deputy
Director of Taiwan’s Council of Labor Affairs and the Catholic Church’s
Hope Worker’s Center. |
