Immediately following a one-month training course for TV producers and directors in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, JESCOMEAO Secretary Jerry Martinson and Special Assistant Mr. Augustine Loorthusamy traveled to Phnom Penh and Battambang, Cambodia to  prepare a series of communication training courses for the Cambodian Church in 2003. The communications unit of the Jesuit Cambodia Service under Sr. Denise Coughlan is actively engaged in video production for social and religious education.   The Head of the Major Seminary in Phnom Penh, Fr. Omer Giraldo, is planning communication projects and has had two young Khmer laymen trained at Niscort in Delhi.  Mgr. Kike Figaredo promotes the training of young people in classical Cambodian dance as a means of communicating Khmer cultural heritage to the new generation.

Mr. Loorthusamy participated in the Board Meeting of SIGNIS in Brussels and met with the directors of several international communications organizations including the World Association of Christian Communicators in London.

Kuangchi Program Service’s 53-minute documentary on migrant workers, Asian Exile, was the centerpiece of a videotaped 90-minute special program for Taiwan’s Public Television Channel to be broadcast throughout the island on May 3.  The documentary is followed by a panel discussion that includes the Deputy Director of Taiwan’s Council of Labor Affairs and the Catholic Church’s Hope Worker’s Center.
